It lasted until my father retired by which time it had lived its heyday as the go-to toy and games emporium with three shops in different parts of the town and which catered for a mix of locals and holiday-makers.
In creating 'Wistful Play', and launching on what would have been dad's 91st birthday in the centenary year of the family business, I like to think that I'm carrying on the same love of traditional toys and games - albeit in a C21st century setting which my ancestors would have marvelled at.
